Dave's widow, Johanna, died just last December
(2007). Dave was stationed at New River, NC after
his last tour and just a few weeks after getting
home was killed in a landing accident. The
landing gear broke off due to a mal-function while
doing some touch and goes. The week before, he
and his co-pilot (and brother-in-law), John
Pearson, broke a world's record by traveling
non-stop cross country in an OV-10, the plane he
died in.
Dave is buried at Arlington. So long ago and yet
so fresh in my memory.
