More detail on this person: Robert H. Bowlin, age 53, died Sunday, June 30, 2002 of complications from a motorcycle accident. Rob was born March 11, 1949 in Alliance, Oh. He was a decorated war hero and retired as a warrant officer from the U.S. Army. As a helicopter pilot, he flew 2 tours of duty in Viet Nam. Warrant Officer Bowlin was one of the most decorated members of the various VFW Posts of which he was a member. His service recognition includes 5 Distinguished Flying Crosses, a Military Achievement award, 6 Air Medals with V Device, an Army Commendation Medal, National Defense, Campaign Medal, 3 Battle Stars and a Bronze Star. He also received a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University and was most recently Plant Manager of the Owens-Corning OEM Solutions Group in Hebron. Member of the Viet Nam Helicopter Pilots Association, V.F.W. Gahanna Post and the Church of the Resurrection. Preceded in death by parents Robert and Eleanora Bowlin. Survived by wife, Dr. Cynthia (DeNiro) Bowlin; daughters, Melissa (Carlos) Giraldo, Wendy Bowlin and Anne Bowlin; son, Joseph Bowlin; grandson, Antonio Giraldo; brother, Perry (Sami) Bowlin, sister, Jacqueline (Peter) Capone. Family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 East Johnstown Rd., Gahanna. Funeral service 10 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2002 at the Church of the Resurrection, 6300 Dublin-Granville Rd., New Albany. Msgr. Colby Grimes, Celebrant. Cremation to take place after service.
