More detail on this person: BO-105 came apart on take off flying for Lifeline on Medevac in Dallas, TX. Fee, Rick LError! Hyperlink reference not valid. Air Medical Memorial · · Never Forget April 2, 1982 CareFlight McKinney, Texas Messerschmitt BBO-105 Pilot: Bill Walker Co-Plot: Rick Fee Passenger: (Pilot) Tom Brown At the time of the accident, the helicopter was conducting a training flight at the end of the runway to familiarize three Lone Star pilots with this newly retrofitted helicopter. North Central provided the helicopter ambulance service under the name of CareFlight. North Central had recently purchased and retrofitted the new aircraft for HEMS. North Central had a longstanding business relationship. Lone Star maintained and operated a Bell helicopter under a contract with Lone Star for HEMS transport. As part of the sale, Messerschmitt Bolkow Blohm Gmbh and MBB Helicopter Corporation provided transition training for Lone Star pilots. Because of thunderstorm in the Dallas area on the day of the accident, the MBB flight instructor cancelled the in-flight training. When the weather improved later in the day, the three Lone Star employees decided to conduct a training flight from Love Field to McKinney Airport. During flight maneuvers at McKinney, the helicopter was observed traveling south over one of the airport runways when it suddenly made a sharp, right bank, pitched downward, and crashed. The mission of the Air Medical Memorial is not just to recognize fallen crew by name, but also with photographs and stories. Currently the site does not have any photographs or personal information about Bill, Rick or Tom. If you can help or know some one who can please refer them to the Air Medical Memorial for contact information.
