"Griffin E. "Skip" Fisk, 56 of Hamilton died
Sunday, March 23, 2003 as a result of a helicopter
crash while working in Marion County, Tenn.
He was born in Covington, Ky., to Griffin and
Meriam Fisk. He was raised in Taylor Mill, Ky.,
and attended school in Covington.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1968. In the Army
he obtained his pilot's license and flew for the
25th Infantry Division. He spent about a year in
the Vietnam War, where he was shot down once
and was awarded the Purple Heart. Also while in
Vietnam, he earned two Distinguished Flying
Crosses.
After he was honorably discharged from the Army
he went right to work as a commercial helicopter
pilot. His two major employers were Rocky
Mountain Helicopters and Carson Services, Inc. He
settled down in the Bitterroot Valley in 1986.
This is also where he owned and operated a small
family ranch."
Perhaps of interest to his fellow aviators is: "
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials
be made to the Skip Fisk Memorial Fund, a college
trust fund for his children at the Ravalli County
Bank, P.O. Box 150, Hamilton, MT 59840"
