More detail on this person: Major Cecil Thomas Gunter, age 72, of Jonesboro, GA and Soso, MS, passed away on August 27, 2016.

Major Gunter USA Retired from the US Army as a Master Army Aviator. He served two combat tours in Vietnam as a gunship pilot.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Frances "Marilyn" Page Gunter and son: Cecil Thomas Gunter, Jr.

He is survived by daughter: Cecily Marilyn Gunter of Mississippi; siblings: James "Jim" Gunter of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Bob Gunter of Jacksonville, FL, Bill Gunter of Bastrop, TX, and Cecilia Gunter Bassett of Moss Point, MS; 2 grandchildren: Marilyn "Page" Gunter and Weston Thomas Ware.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, August 31, 2016, in the Chapel of Ford Stewart Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Union Line Methodist Church Cemetery in Soso, Mississippi at 2 PM CST on Thursday, September 1, 2016. The family will receive friends from 5 PM to 7 PM on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at the funeral home.
