More detail on this person: Obituary Ret. Lt. Col. Dennis George Groebe, 76 of Fairhope, AL, passed away peacefully at his home on the morning of December 5, 2021. Dennis was born in Pasadena, California to Harold and Molly-Ann Groebe on July 4, 1945. He graduated in 1963 from Morningside High School in Inglewood, CA, and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science with Honors from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1975, with a major in Computer Science and a minor in Mathematics. Dennis served his country proudly for 23 years in the US Army, during which time he earned many recognitions for his devotion including the Distinguished Flying Cross, our nation's highest honor for extraordinary aerial achievement, and a Bronze Star, our nation's fourth-highest award given for deeds performed during an armed conflict signifying sacrifice, bravery, and honor while serving one's country. After retiring from service, Dennis found success across a variety of endeavors with none more accomplished or rewarding than C&A Medical and Groebe Investments - the two he entered into jointly with the love of his life Carol Dolan-Groebe. Along the arc of his life, Dennis enjoyed spending his time engaged with his family and friends, sailing, fly fishing, woodworking, doing anything car-related, and most of all his cherished evening sunsets on the pier with Carol. Dennis was the beloved husband of Carol Dolan-Groebe, proud brother to Tom Groebe and his wife Sue, loving father to Gress Hickman IV, Kimberly Elder, Sharon Campbell, and Douglas Groebe, Grandad of Tiffany, Megan, Gress Hickman V, Winfield, Peter, Taylor, and Shelby, Great Grandad of Aiden, Addison, and Andrew. He is preceded in death by his amazing parents, Harold and Molly-Ann Groebe, and his awesome sister Jeannette Rowena Weston. A memorial service with full military honors will he held for Dennis at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, AL on December 20th at 1:30pm.
