More detail on this person: Edward C. Malik, Jr., 74, of Wells, Maine, passed away peacefully following a brief illness on November 27, 2019 in Portsmouth, NH. Loving and devoted husband of A. Theresa (Greene) Malik. Proud father of Jocelyn Malik (Thomas E. Link III), and grandfather of Rosalie S. Link and Hugo M. Link, of Pittsburgh, PA. Ed Malik, affectionately known as 'Chip' to many, was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts to Anne (Madden) Harrington and Edward C. Malik on November 10, 1945. He attended Pompano Beach High School in Pompano Beach, Florida. He was a loyal "Domer" having graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1967, and then received his juris doctor from Suffolk University Law School. He married Theresa Malik on September 6, in Ogunquit, Maine. He was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War and honorably served in the Marine Corps as a CH-46 "Sea Knight" helicopter pilot. He was a skilled medevac pilot who advanced to the rank of Captain during his service. In 1970 he received a citation for assisting in the rescue and evacuation of wounded Marines from a forward field position in Quang Nam Province. A mentor to many during his career, he was a successful attorney specializing in matrimonial law, practicing with his firm Malik Law Offices. He was a member of the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, and in 2016 was named among the Best Lawyers in New England. He served on the Board of Directors for White Pines Programs, a non-profit based in York, Maine, and dedicated to connecting people to the natural world. Among other things, Ed Malik enjoyed fishing, spending time at the beach or on the water, good food, and a fine martini with his beloved family or dear friends. Ed Malik is preceded in death by parents Anne (Madden) Harrington and Edward C. Malik, and stepson Mark E. Davis. Honor Guard military ceremony will be held at Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery in Springvale, Maine, at a future date. The family of Ed Malik wishes to extend its sincere thanks to Maine Medical Center, York Hospital, Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital, Portsmouth Regional Hospital, Beacon Hospice, and the Cremation Society of New Hampshire.
