More detail on this person: Walter E. Pinkerton Jr Ramona attorney Walter E. Pinkerton Jr. died April 14 from ulcerated colitis and complications with toxic colon. An estate planning attorney, he most recently was of counsel for the law firm Roy M. Doppelt and Associates. He focused his practice on business planning, asset protection, fundamental and advanced estate and tax planning, probate, trusts and civil litigation. He served as an officer and board member of the Ramona Bar Association for several years. "Walt made the practice of law fun," said Sam Frazier, a former president of the Ramona Bar Association. "In our profession, lawyers often greet each other as diplomatic combatants. Not Walt. He was always smiling, always humorous and always effective. "He had a way of breaking down traditional lawyer barriers and everyone liked being around him. Walt had many passions in life, most notably his family, his faith in Jesus Christ and flying." A retired Marine Corps officer, he served two tours of duty as a Cobra fighter pilot during the Vietnam War, earning 24 combat air medals and the Purple Heart. He also served as the squadron flight instructor, the squadron's legal officer and was a noted member of the General and Special Court Martial Boards. Pinkerton received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of West Los Angeles and graduated with honors with the Bachelor of Science degree in management and marketing from Philadelphia University. He was active at the Grace Community Church and also served as a director for the Ramona Senior Service Center. Pinkerton made headlines a few years ago when a defective rotor separated from the helicopter he was piloting, and he and his passengers crashed into the Pacific Ocean just off the coast of Catalina Island. All survived thanks to Pinkerton's heroic effort to save his passengers until help arrived. Pinkerton is survived by his wife, Lynn Pinkerton; son, Walter "Tres" E. Pinkerton III; and daughter, Jolie Pinkerton. By Daily Transcript Staff Report Wednesday, Aprilul 28, 2010.
