More detail on this person: Very sad news from
Floyd Sparkman's wife Stephanie, Floyd had been
in ill health the past few years, but he always
had a very positive attitude. I worked for him at
Fort Rucker in 1967-68 in Department of Tactics,
Employment Division, Lowe AAF, he was my Flight
Commander, he would always call the tower saying
Mardi-Gras 21, landing with code 13 aboard, the
tower would pause and then say, we don't have a
code 13 designation, ole Sparky would then say; a
code 13 is a Major doing a Captain's job, a great
guy and a great boss even if he was an RLO, I
shall miss him greatly, may God rest his soul and
bless his family and friends. No info on funeral
arrangements as yet. This information was last updated 05/18/2016

This is Floyd's wife Stephanie writing to inform
you as per his written request, in the event of
his death. He passed away at 5 AM on Friday
morning at the VA hospital. Cause of death was
hospital neglect (in my opinion) as he was "found"
bleeding on the bathroom floor after having been
there for nearly a week to get water off of his
legs and some from his lungs. I had spoken to him
on the night before and he was being released the
morning of his death. I was not notified until I
arrived later that morning to bring him home. What
a terrible shock. This is the first I have been
able to get myself together enough to notify
anyone. He wanted you to notify everyone else
etc...for me as he left me very few contact
numbers and addresses. Also he left a touching
(humerous) note for you. Tell Jerry if the VA
decides on a ceremony....I don't mind if they fly
the "Missing Man" ceremony in The UH-1 Huey or
the L-19 Bird Dog.
