Accident Summary:
MAJ Kelly was the 57th Med's third CO and is known as the "Father of DUSTOFF". Much has been written about profound effect his death had on the business of dedicating helicopters to medevac operations. See the 1993 VHPA Directory and John Cook's "The Illustrated History of the Vietnam War, Dust Off". Many believe "the legend of DUSTOFF" was born out of his death.
