Accident Summary:
Aircraft took-off and crashed into the river about 100 meters south of the helipad. A red ball of fire was observed on the river's surface.
War Story:
An excerpt from NAVFORV March 1967 History: Nha Be and Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal personnel participating in the search and recovery efforts. The wreckage of the helicopter's fuselage section was subsequently recovered by Light Lift Craft 1 and delivered to the Nha Be helicopter pad. Salvage operations were terminated on 12 March.
