War Story:
The HMM-262 historian states that four HMM-262 Marines were all aboard CH-46 buno 147190 when it crashed into the South China Sea. The crash was the result of an aft pylon failure. All aircraft were subsequently returned to Okinawa for tail reinforcement and returned to duty. Captain Richard Louis Basinger, a member of HMM-363, also died in the crash.
147190 is a UH-34 so we added this information to the only CH-46 destroyed that day. GBR Dec 1999.
