Accident Summary:
The CE heard a humming noise, then the aircraft lost power. After the autorotation, it crashed nose low and rolled over one time. An observer noted that the aircraft had low rotor RPM on impact. Analysis revealed a short shaft failure which was not detected by the tech inspector - maintenance discrepancy.
