Accident Summary:
During flight, the pilot experienced an engine failure and started an autorotation toward a large clear grassy area. During the autorotation, the pilot watched the RPM to such an extent that he lost sight of the intended LZ. The aircraft hit the trees with an excessive rate of forward movement. A fire occurred shortly afterward which also destroyed the aircraft. Suspect engine failure.
