Operation CHINOOK
South Vietnam
Description: One of the most dramatic events of Operation CHINOOK occurred on the 31st when Marine patrols observed more than 1,000 enemy troops taking advantage of the standdown and moving north. III MAF convinced MACV that the enemy force must be attacked and Marine supporting arms engaged this force.
