Description: The B/7/17 Cav Scout platoon, through the efforts of 1LT Daniel G. Coates, originated the call sign SCALP HUNTER which was accepted by the platoon leader, 1LT Johnny Durden in October. It is reminiscent of the old tim cavalry and their heroic scouts during the operning of the West. B Troop's Scouts wear a bright red scarf with a crossed saber design and the unit name "B Troop, 7th Sqdn, 17th Air Cav" embroidered in blue along with their individual call sign or name.
