Description: The 361st AWC reported while supporting MACV SOG CCC missions from the FOB II base the unit experienced its first pilot KIA and its second and third aircraft losses. 1LT Renner's outstanding performance and coolnees under enemy fires, while on the ground in the midst of a large enemy force, made his rescue and that of his fatally wounded CP successful. CPT Higgins, piloting the wing ship, took 50 caliber hits resulting in major damage. After making an emergency landing his aircraft was found to be unrepairable.
