Operation BOLD MARINER
Quang Ngai Province, I Corps, South Vietnam
Location, Batangan Peninsula
Description: This cordon, search, and sweep operation was the largest amphibious assault of the War. It combined assets of both SLF Alpha and Bravo with elements from the Americal and 2d ARVN Divisions to work the old Operation STARLITE area on the Batangan Peninsula. The Americal Division's Operation RUSSELL BEACH was complementary to this operation. Casualties: U.S. - 5 KIAs, 32 WIAs; enemy - 60 KIAs and 26 POWs.
